So, I'm not sure how many of my fellow writers are aware of this, but Reddit has a great writing community--and with that community, a constant flow of new writing prompts. I decided that while I go through training here with the army, I will be keeping my writing skills up-to-snuff by doing a couple of these writing prompts per week. You can find the source for these prompts here. I invite anyone else to join me in this writing prompt challenge and share their pieces in the comments below, as well as on Reddit! Why do the prompts? As with any learned skill, or craft, it is important to maintain a healthy practice and frequent use of your learned skills. Too much of an absence from writing can cause your skills, and the quality of your work, to deteriorate ... much like how you will lose physical muscle if you stop working out or going to the gym and let your body slump into relative disuse and an unchallenged state.
Even if you don't fancy yourself a writer, and perhaps stumbled upon my blog due to some of the other postings--like Warhammer, or my brief mentions of movies and TV shows--writing can still be beneficial! Not only can it offer a sort of unique relaxation for the body and mind, (writing is often sighted as being therapeutic) but it can also help jog new ideas or concepts for other aspects of your life. Maybe there is a problem to which you can't find the answer? The parts of the mind activated when writing, and creating, can help come up with unique solutions to unique problems. So, go ahead and give these prompts a shot, hopefully they provide a unique and enjoyable challenge. If not, hopefully at the very least, my writing is as enjoyable for you to read as it was for me to write. Have a great day! -Matt Connect with me: Twitter: @MattTaylor1776 Facebook: Author Matthew Taylor

POSTING SCHEDULE
I will do my best to be posting new content every Wednesday. Tentatively dubbed "Workshop Wednesday" I will relatively unedited practice pieces I create to work on certain aspects of the writing craft. Bear in mind military service and training schedules are unpredictable and may be cause for the occasional late post. In the future I plan to have a set schedule for posting about other writing-related things, or topics in my interest field such as Table Top War Gaming and Video Games. Thank you for your support and feedback! AuthorMatthew Taylor was born February 13, 1991 in Simi Valley, California.
