Alright, so I just was shown the gameplay trailer for Battlefield 1... I have to say, and I've never meant this more about a game in my life: this game looks amazing! This gameplay trailer is amazing... Everything from the tanks to the planes look fantastic! In an era where almost all of our shooting games are modern to futuristic, I think that DICE is taking a bold step in the genre by going to a completely different (and I think, underrepresented) time in history. Unlike speculative future technologies and politics, we have historical records to look at and draw inspiration from. There were so many impressive innovations during this time, tanks and machine guns probably being the most notable. I mean look at some of these things: Not to mention, the gas masks on these guys are haunting. The amount of atmosphere and alien feel DICE can get into this game is, I think, just as potentially strange as the stuff we see in the futuristic games. Many people in society today probably don't know too terribly much about WW1. Zeppelins! Need I say more? Here is the BF1 Announcement Trailer that came out not too long ago, check it out if you haven't seen it yet -and try to tell me you've never seen World War 1 ANYTHING look so exciting...And finally, here is the Gameplay Trailer I boldly claimed was AMAZING up above. So I think DICE has a chance for something great. If this game is received well we should very well see a change in the current settings of FPS games and a return to different theaters rather than futuristic jet packs, mechs, and near-future tech. While that is cool and all, I can only handle so much of essentially the same thing.
What do you think? Or what're you hoping for? Let me know in the comments below! Feel free to contact me on twitter with your thoughts as well! @MattTaylor1776 Have a great day everyone, Matt
