Alright, so writing aside... one of my other major hobbies is tabletop war gaming. Specifically, the grim-dark 41st millennium of Warhammer 40,000. ![]() The Imperial Guard (pictured above) -now known as the Astra Militarum- is my current army of choice! One of the things that drew me to them, was the fact that they are un-enhanced humans just like myself! In a world where you have 8 ft tall Space Marines, or giant alien bugs, or super high tech space elves... it is nice to have the common man to relate to. The Imperial Guard relies on millions upon millions of soldiers to assert their dominance over the galaxy and protect the humans from the xeno threats that abound. I built my army around being an urban fighting force... a liberation front... seeking to free an oppressed city from its rulers. So "ignores cover" weapons are in abundance, and my choices in units were made from fluff and feel rather than looking to be as competitive as possible -the competitiveness was back in my Eldar days! My current list is 2 for 2 so far! It is made up of: 1 Company Command Squad 1 Platoon Command Squad 2 10-man guardsmen squads, ran as a blob squad with a commissar 1 Heavy Weapons Squad w/ Missiles 1 Veteran Squad with Chimera and 3 Meltas 1 Militarum Tempestus Platoon (Tempestus Command w/ Plasma guns, one squad with 2 meltas, one squad with 2 volley-guns) 1 3-man Bullgryn squad with slabshields 1 Wyvern 1 Hellhammer - the "Heedless" 1 Aegis Defense Line (I scratch built it with sandbags and such to make it urban) with a quad-gun That's pretty much it so far! Looking to add in some tanks and be able to switch the Hellhammer out for a full compliment of Leman Russ. Do any of you play Warhammer 40k or any other table top games? Comment below and let me know what armies you play! Or if you have any questions on anything! I may post up some pictures of my models if people are interested! Let me know!
Keep on writing and reading folks, Matt
